Hi, welcome to my first weekly nomz! This is a series where I share about a couple of podcasts, news and articles that I've enjoyed consuming. I've always wanted to start a blog but was always too stressed about the quality of my writing. I've decided to start this series as a way to get myself to write and share more. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them!
First on the list this week has been a 3 part series by Channel News Asia about our Prime Minister shedding light about Singapore's National Reserves. For those who don't know, Singapore will be having its Presidential Elections next week. This will be my first time voting for the President ever since I became eligible. In the run-up to the elections, CNA has produced an excellent series about Singapore's National Reserves and the role of the President in safeguarding them. I would highly recommend CNA's series to anyone who is interested in learning more about Singapore's reserves and the role of the President.
Next up is the Deep Dive podcast by Ali Abdaal having a conversation with Rob Dix about finding financial success. I've been a fan of Ali's podcast for a while now and I've always enjoyed his conversations with his guests. While it wasn't a deep dive into the topic of investments, it was great to hear Ali voice out economic questions that I've always had but never really took the time to find out the answers to. Another interesting concept covered was the idea of renting versus buying houses. Given Singapore's real estate scene, it's an extremely rare concept for people to consider renting instead of buying. This episode has definitely given me a lot to think about my financial future ahead.
Lastly, I read an article titled 'Some tactics for writing in public'. In it, the author shared valuable advice on how to structure your writing in order to attract meaningful responses and feedback from the audience. I will definitely be using some of the advice in my future posts.
That's all for this week! I hope you enjoyed reading my very first weekly nomz.
